Not sure how this will go over, since I've seen that this is the hangout for haters of DDO... But it's more hassle than it's worth to make a new one.
Here's a list: (don't revolt because it's a link to DDO)
http://www.debate.org/debates/Topics-Id-Like-to-Debate.-ColeTrain/1/
Hopefully some of these topics will be found of interest to the people of edeb8... and hopefully there will be some engaging debates as a result of this list.
Regardless, it is what it is.

On balance, the British conquest of Native lands was justified.
I hail from a British colony.. but i don't know how justified it was, people are rigid, what happens in the Kingdom should be felt in the colony... hmm?

It's a fair point. I'm pretty sure at least half of all countries can justifiably call themselves former British colonies - I'm from one too.
I tend to find most arguments presenting a justification are based more around a general model of Westernization, as opposed to defending the British Empire specifically.

The French and the British never actually ruled as much as we believe they did,
They had large territorial claims, but to the native people's they were mostly baseless.
France, which unlike Britain, focused primarily on setting up puppet rulers in existing nations rather than establishing forts on unclaimed lands.
Also I hate when people call the US a former British colony.
Less than 10% of the population or so actually descended from the original Americans.

I don't think the makeup of the population has anything to do with it. Everyone in New Zealand agrees New Zealand is a former Maori country, despite hardly any of us actually being that.
