Skills to win arguments

Article from MSN, based on various research. Read it here. It suggests the following tactics to help you win any argument. Applies well to debating too.
  1. Be civil.
  2. "Take your conversational partner's views and advance them to their logical — and perhaps absurd — conclusion."
  3. Don't ask why. Ask how.
  4. Follow up your arguments.
  5. Ask open-ended questions.
  6. Be confident.
  7. Use graphs.
  8. Demonstrate that other people agree.
  9. Go beyond anecdotes.
Most of these are little more than psychological tricks that might cause your opponents some headaches if they're not specifically prepared for them. Even if they are, using them in combination with good points can throw even the best opponents off their guard!
