1. People buy pets. So we wouldn't be buying them if they do more harm than good, that would be self-destructive.
2. A lot of data supports the assertion that pets provide an immense amount of psychological and emotional comfort, especially in times of stress. People often in times of great sadness or depression look to be with their pets as a coping mechanism.
3. Pets are always happy to see you, in turn making you happy for their happiness. You happy = good, more pets = more people happy, more people happy = good world.
4. Having a pet teaches you a lot about responsibility, an invaluable life skill.
