That India should adopt aggressive free market policies

India is at an important and difficult place in its history. With unprecedented unity and economic development, as well as a very large population, India must determine how to best take advantage of the opportunities they have been given.

I'm going to define aggressive free market policies as complete government non-intervention in the market. I intend to argue that it is the Indian people who should make that decision directly with their own money - not some government bureaucrats.

1. Free Choice

As a principle, free choice is a great idea because it empowers us. It gives us the ability to determine who we want to be and how we want to live, rather than suffering the consequences of others' views on the matter. That's good because we are individuals - people - not identical pieces of copy paper to be fashioned by an elite few as they please. Personal freedom necessarily also implies personal responsibility. If we choose an action, we have to live with that action.

A free market gives individuals free and fair choices about what to buy and sell. Without government restrictions, there are no restrictions. That means people gain the right to determine their own future. That's a very significant right to fight for.

2. Mutually assured destruction

The first thing most Indians who can afford it will buy with no laws concerning the economy will likely be a couple of nuclear weapons. We've seen this happen among nations, as most of the larger ones have struggled to get nuclear arms as soon as possible for self-defense. Individuals have the same mandate. Just as we have seen the presence of nuclear weapons bringing peace to the world, so too will more nuclear bombs bring peace to India. India has plenty of spare reactors and such to create enough nuclear fuel for this market to operate effectively. While murder would remain illegal under my model, the mere threat would be strong enough, coupled with the fact everyone would keep their weapons a secret so you could never be sure who had the power to vaporize you in an instant.

The impact will be that violence, rioting and such will become non-issues, because everybody will be holding each other to ransom all the time. It's no secret that India has not in the past been the most internally peaceful nation on Earth, but under my model that will change. If nothing else, it would make for some great news pieces for the rest of the world to read with great interest and excitement.

3. Trade

With foreign companies being allowed to enter India freely, access to low-cost Indian workers will become more available than ever. This means more of your calls will be rerouted to a call center in Hydrabad, meaning more gainful employment for some of the poorest people in the world. Much as Chinese workers moved from toiling in fields to thriving in factories after China's economy opened, so too will India's workforce learn to thrive.

It also works two ways - Indian companies will have better access to offshore markets without export restrictions, meaning they'll thrive more too. Much like most of America's GDP currently goes directly to China, so too can India move into the business of stealing profits from other nations and out of the business of mostly servicing themselves.

4. Governments suck

Let's face it - India's government has made some crazy decisions over the years. In general, governments who don't know you personally are going to be especially poor at judging what's right and wrong for you and your company, even if they had only the best of intentions for you - and all too often this is not the case. India is a land of bribery and corruption. Government interferance is ruining what would otherwise be a much more productive economy by imposing needless regulations and price controls, that don't always serve the interests of all of the Indian people. Indians need to stand up to the government and take the power of the economy into their own hands again.

I thank my opponent and look forward to a fun debate!
