Olympics is neither a waste of money nor idea. It is a way to give
chance to people all over the world to portray their talents in various
fields. Also it brings the entire nation together in an environment of
peace, cooperation and controlled non violent competition. Olympic Games
were earlier originated around 500 years B.C ago. They were basically a
kind of contests between neighboring city and states who were
continually at war with one another. This was done keeping in mind to
create peace among these countries. The basic reason behind these
Olympic Games is to choose champions in various skills and sports and to
suspend wars as well. They basically provide one of the few
opportunities for all nations to interact in a constructive and
cooperative venue. There are other reasons as well that proves that
Olympic is actually not a waste of money. Read more.........

PinkiePinkie (CON)
I'd like to thank my opponent for initiating this debate with me and I'll start this round by defining some key terms:
1) Olympic Games: "...are the leading international sporting event featuring summer and winter sports competitions in which thousands of athletes from around the world participate in a variety of competitions"
2) Waste:  "Use or expend carelessly, extravagantly, or to no purpose"
3) Idea: "The aim or purpose"
4) Pro: "An advantage or argument in favor of something"
5) Con: "In opposition or disagreement"

In this round I will show you that my opponent has failed to uphold the resolution and I will show you a impact of this.

Contention 1: Pro Fails to Uphold the Resolution:

a) The Wording of the Resolution:
The resolution is "Olympic Games: A Waste Of Money Or Idea". This resolution is calling for the debaters to discuss if the Olympic Games are or are not a waste.

b) The Role of Pro:
It is my opponent's job, as Pro, to uphold the resolution and bring up arguments in favor of it. To uphold the resolution and win this debate Pro must argue affirming it and saying that the Olympic Games are a waste of money and idea. But as we can see in Pro's affirmative contention this is not the case Pro has been arguing that the Olympic Games are not a waste of money or idea. Because Pro has argued my side of the debate you can see that there are now two Cons in this debate.

The Impact of Having Two Cons: Becoming the Forums
If we condone ground shifting in this debate, as Pro has done by negating the resolution, we are promoting a debating website where there is no difference between the forums and the actual debating. If there is not a line between the forums and debates we risk becoming nothing but a regular social media site and there is no reason to be here.

As we can see my opponent has failed to affirm the resolution and has become a second con. If we allow ground shifting like they have done we set a precedent for becoming just another website and we set a precedent for ground shifting in future.

Because Edeb8 should remain a unique and useful website you should vote for the real Con at the end of the debate.
