By always affirmed I do not mean to say that there did not exist sects which did not affirm the Divinity of Christ, but rather the Divine nature of Christ was affirmed not only by writers of the New Testament, but by the early church fathers as well. In other words, pointing out heretical sects will not suffice to disprove the resolution, but rather one must show that the teaching that Christ is God did not exist in the early church, but was somehow formulated after. I look forward to hearing anyone who can make a convincing case, one does not have to be a Christian to accept this debate, however the Bible and early church writings will certainly be appealed to.
