I support fair tax. I want to hear your opinions.
Go to fairtax.org if you have questions or concerns about this or, as I have basically memorized that site, I can answer them on this thread.

cowboy0108: Also, I currently have a fair tax debate open for acceptance if someone wants to formally debate me on the issue.

cowboy0108: I hope someone takes your debate :) It's an interesting proposal, flawed in many ways, but I think it might still be superior to the current one in the US as I understand it.

Pinkie: Well, that's when everything ended, when I endorsed flat taxes...

cowboy0108: If we are talking american taxation, the fair tax is too radical.
From the current system, it decimates the poor, weakens welfare, and allows the rich a HUGE tax break.

How's that for starters?

admin: As a sentence it is structurally sound. Taxation, discrimination, and all that jazz is bad.

Pinkie: Actually I think taxation and jazz are both good. It's inequality like Khaos talked about that's bad.

admin: On balance I like our taxation system; to the point where I would willing suffer the faults (wasting money, abusing the system and a disproportionate spending on Auckland roads) in order to reap the benefits. (Welfare, free healthcare/education/questionable earthquake insurance)

I like jazz too, but only smooth, lounge room jazz... None of that classic discord crap.

admin: What inequality is bad, that you think I was talking about?
In case you don't know, our country has huge income disparity, wealth disparity, and tax disparity.
47% of Americans do not pay federal income taxes, these are likely the poor, elderly, teens, and "single" parent families.

Khaos: All of the above essentially. I'd call it structural economic inequality, but that's just because I like using economicy words. I was specifically referring to this sentence you wrote and describing my disapproval of that condition: "From the current system, it decimates the poor, weakens welfare, and allows the rich a HUGE tax break."
