A lot of you are unimportant

And a lot of you will die just as unimportant as you were in life.

I think we should recognize that some lives are just pathetic and pitiful.

Who is emotionally crushed when another empty life bites the dust?

Let's hear from someone with credibility.

Crow: Ever heard of the Butterfly Effect; man? Even the tiniest action we make can affect others. Therefore, no one is truly unimportant. Some people are just more important than others.

cooldudebro: Still applies with less people. Less variables to screw everyone else up.;

Nothing is that important, if they can easily be discarded.

In the question of whether all people are important, I would ask to what end are all people important.

Crow: People affect others life even on a miniscule level to which can not be measured by means that you are suggesting.

Inspiration or a simple conversation can change anyone for the better or worse.

Everyone is important enough not to be unimportant due to the role they may play on someone's life which then keeps branching off to others.

You are setting a rather low bar for importance.

The butterfly effect applies to everything. If we use that as the standard, then the word is devalued, because everything would be important. Why even have the term?

-----------------------------------------
Let's raise the bar for what constitutes importance for a second.

I am referring to a single man without children, who has a conformed and uninteresting personality. He eats breakfast, goes to work at a desk job, goes home to watch tv, and goes to sleep. He follows this routine relatively the same for the rest of his life.

I believe there is a much higher bar than the above example, but let's start with that.

Crow: Humans affect each other and the planet more than anything thus the term would still hold relevance along with terms such as "more or very important" to show that some people are more important than others.

That is, again, your opinion and only your opinion. That man helps run the company he works at; influences his friends and people around him, and performs many tasks that are needed. Thus, he does have some level of importance.

What do you mean by unimportant?
I think we should recognize that some lives are just pathetic and pitiful.
Why should we?

Not me, why should I be?

I should of used a better word choice for this thread.

I regret the usage of the word important.

Dassault Papillon: I beg to differ in my case. I am an overnight sensation that has been years in the making.

Really though, many people will fail to even achieve importance on even a much lesser scale. Many will die with only their mothers and a few other schmucks crying over them.

If you die and the whole town doesn't show up, then chances are you lived a pretty lame and insignificant life.

I don't think you need to be largely popular to have a significant/commendable and non-lame life.
Otherwise, only other people can give you a significant and non-lame life.

Why does it matter anyways? Are you just trying to downplay other people?

Don't remember the rest.

Does high social standing dictate importance? Does the collective determine the worth of the individual? Doesn't sound so anarchistic to me.

Dassault Papillon: It doesn't have to do with popularity.

It is about making waves, impacts, and having a presence in society. It doesn't even have to be vocal. I knew great and deeply loved men who were very subtle and not outspoken, and the community would just stop when they died.

There are people who I didn't even like that died significantly. There were people that I did like that died without significance.

Most people downplay themselves.

How many people show up at your funeral ISN'T the best measuring system.

You all know what I am trying to say so. Some individuals live far emptier lives than others.
