I'm going to be auditioning for a advanced band on my flute and I'm looking for a complex piece to play.
I want to do something that nobody has ever done before, something that has edgy parts but is also gentle in parts. Does anyone have any recommendations for a piece?
Please excuse me as I'm not super creative when it comes to forum signatures.

I suggest Aaron Copland's "Rodeo Hoe Down". You will be a legend if you pull that off well using nothing but a flute.

I'm listening to it now and it sounds really fun. Now to find the sheet music.

"Do that to me once again" Captain and Tennille.
Probably the best flute solo in popular music. Probably one of the ONLY flute solos in popular music though...

Thanks, but I don't think it's complex enough. And that wasn't the edgy I was looking for..

Both excellent points. Also it's not even a cool song.

Soooo... How did the audition go?
I remember when we used to audition people for our band. It was real awkward if they were no good. Which they pretty much all were.

It's in the fall, getting a head start so it's perfect.
